Welcome to Nettie's Healthy Living Corner

This site is all about transitioning to a healthier you. I've been a vegeterian/vegan for the past twenty years and an active member of People for the Ethnical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

I became quite concern about health for others a couple of years ago because my significant other of 32 years was diagnosed and ultimately passed away of Kidney Cancer.

Hopefully, you'll find my blog helpful in assisting you with living a more healthier life!

I'd love to hear from you.

Can We Eat Healthy On the Go?

Most Poll participants said that they find it hard to eat healthy because they eat on the go. Much of the food that’s served in fast food restaurants isn’t exactly healthy. However, by making smart choices, you can eat healthy. Opt for grilled chicken sandwiches and skip the mayonnaise. Most of the big chains offer salads as well as side salads on their menu. Opt for a low fat dressing and skip the soda for a healthy fast food meal.

My favorite healthy fast food place is Subway. Stick with whole wheat bread, and one of the sandwiches with 6 grams of fat or less. Skip the mayonnaise and pile on the veggies. Hm...Hm...Good!

  1. Nettie, I would recommend a couple of books by an author named Michael Pollan. The 1st is called "In Defense of Food" and the second "Food Rules". Helpful and entertaining books that give a sort of guideline to what we should be eating and how.
